Beginning of wisdom? or foolishness? (fear of the Lord part 2)

I was listening to the radio the other day and heard something that I thought was quite interesting in light of some conversations I have had recently. The man on the radio was talking about birth rates in countries around the world. It seems, as many of us have known for years, that the whole population control movement is reeking havoc in Europe and Asia. Something I found interesting was when he was talking about China being on the brink of an economic meltdown if they didn't do something soon because of their shrinking population. China having a population problem?? Well it seems that the issue is that when you don't reproduce then the older folks don't have enough younger folks to take care of them. When this happens the system falls apart. This isn't just because they are socialist, think about it, if the early Christians didn't have enough children who would take care of the widows? That is why people used to have big families. When I was in anthropology class our instructor said it was "just to have more hands on the farm" but I'm sure there was also the idea of who was going to take care of you when you couldn't work the farm any more. My point here is that no matter what kind of system we live under we need population growth to survive. I made an argument that if we hadn't been killing millions of our children by abortion we would have many more people working, paying taxes, and consuming to help keep our country afloat. I was laughed at, but by looking at China I'd say I was right on the money. So what does this have to do with fear of the Lord? Well, if fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom then one might assume that His instructions to us are filled with wisdom that we should listen to. The Bible tells us, in two places, to "go forth and be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth." As we, even in the church, have lost our fear of the Lord, and our respect for the order in which he created everything we have forgotten this and now there is consequences. The churches mindset that limiting our family size by what we want rather than what God wants is just one way that our churches have been influenced by the culture instead of influencing the culture. When we reject God's commands then what good are we? Or as Jesus said; "If the salt has lost it's savor wherewith shall it be salty? It is good for nothing but to be cast out and trodden under foot by men." I don't know about you, but being trodden on doesn't sound like a good time to me, yet as we have lost our fear of the Lord and rejected His commandments we have lost our savor and we aren't helping out culture out any. No wonder the west is being over ran, or should we say stepped on by the cultures in the world who want our extermination. As we see in Europe, China, and sadly even right here as we have become "wise" apart from God, our wisdom is foolishness.
