Thoughts on Christmas

How many movies and tv shows have you seen that claim to know the "real meaning of Christmas"? They then go on about how it's about family, friends, or giving. Is that the real meaning of Christmas? Well what is Christmas? Well we could look at the origin of the word. It is a combination of 2 words, Christ and Mas. Christ is the Messiah, Jesus of Nazareth, the man who lived a perfect life and was crucified and rose again after 3 days. Mas is a Catholic service. So Christmas is a recognition of Jesus, in particular His birth. So next time you watch a nice show that tells you about the "true meaning of Christmas" or the "spirit of Christmas" think about how they missed it because they refues to even look at the word and find out what they are talking about.
